Chasing the Northern Lights in Iceland from March 1st – 9th!

Iceland was a magical place in winter. We experienced the Northern Lights on our first night camping at Kirkjufell, which was only a 2 1/2 hour drive Since this is towards the end of winter, there were certain places we couldn’t travel to in Northwest Iceland. But it’s the best time of the year to catch the Northern Lights and experience the winter wonderland.

Target Areas
This is a map of all the top places we wanted to see in Iceland. The one place that we could not reach was the shipwreck and two waterfalls in the north that was too hazardous to go to. It’s always better to stay safe and follow instructions set by the Icelandic Rescue team in Iceland.
